The natureplus webinar series “Building materials of the future” with 6 events from 16.04. to 08.07.2021 presents building materials that provide a complete answer to the question of sustainability.
Hardly any other topic is as connected to the idea of the future as building. Generations of people will live and work in the buildings we are building today. How we use the the building, what materials we use to design the future, is more than just a question of technical suitability and price availability.
Responsible use of resources and energy
Sustainable building means responsible use of resources and energy in the manufacture and selection of building materials. When moving into a conventional new building, half of the total energy consumption is consumed in the building proces if a 50-year operating period is assumed. The consumption of resources in the construction industry is also not sustainable. In many countries in Europe over 50 percent of the total waste generated is construction and demolition materials.
The building materials of tomorrow
The building materials of the future must therefore provide a complete answer to the question of sustainability:
- they should be durable,
- produced with the least possible use of energy and raw materials,
- reusable or at least high quality recyclable and
- free of harmful or unhealthy substances.
In 2020 in our series of web seminars on the “circular economy”, we discussed various building materials and the impact on our precious raw materials. In 2021, let’s take a look at the building materials of tomorrow.
The natureplus web seminar series “Building materials of the future” sheds light on versatile materials and innovative solutions for building products, together with experts from science. With specific application examples, architects show how we can be built today with climate and resource-saving and thus sustainable building.
In addition to wood, brick and clay as versatile “classics”, fascinating “newcomers” are discussed with bamboo, secondary building materials and other surprising building materials. Each web seminar covers one of these building materials, with three web seminars in German and three in English. The events last approximately 2.5 hours each. There are usually five lectures each.
Architects for Future A4F supports the web seminar series as an official cooperation partner. This event will be submitted for recognition as advanced training. Be part of this important dialogue and take part in this series of webinars.
